Sketching at the Australian Parliament House Gardens

Last weekend Urban Sketchers Canberra met at the Australian Parliament House Gardens. I was unaware that it is 33 hectare site with 23 of them being Gardens. The native gardens contain 4,500 trees and 135,000 shrubs and ground covers. These attract native birds and I enjoyed their birdsong as I sketched.

It was sunny and warm without being hot. So I enjoyed the morning very much I thought I would share my efforts here.

This is the scene I settled down in front of to sketch.

I sketched this on location in the tradition of Urban sketchers. Urban Sketchers is a global network of people who draw the cities they live in and travel to. Their slogan is to see the world one drawing at a time. You can find out more from the Urban sketchers website where there is a global directory of groups. If you are interested in finding out more about a group in your town or city check out the Chapter map here.
