Sketching a Muttaburrasaurus at the National Museum of Australia

There was a great turn out at the National Museum of Australia for the monthly Canberra Urban Sketchers group today. Most of us had tickets to see and sketch the Mr Squiggle and Friends exhibition.
Like people of all ages who were there I enjoyed the exhibition but enjoyed sketching the dinosaur Muttaburrasaurus in the foyer. The Muttaburrasaurus was a plant-eating ornithopod from the Early Cretaceous of eastern Australia.
I found the sketch tricky but fun. I am still using my concertina sketchbook made from Baohong Watercolour Paper. I talked about making it here. I am using Tombow dual brush pens which is able to blend because it is not waterproof, also not waterproof are Staedtler double-ended fibre tip pens, Pitt artist pen both brush that are waterproof and bullet tip and a water barrel brush that has a reservoir of water in the handle. (no affiliation to any of these products I just use them)

If you are interested in Urban sketching in Canberra, the Canberra Urban Sketchers group meet on the second Sunday of the month. Everyone at all skill levels using what ever medium you enjoy is welcome. We often have other informal meetings too so check out what is happening on the Canberra Urban Sketchers Facebook page
